Observational method as risk management tool: the Hvalfjörður tunnel project, Iceland

چکیده
Rock tunnel construction is associated with considerable geotechnical uncertainty, often due to limited knowledge about the ground conditions. This warrants use of stringent risk management procedures reduce likelihood cost increases, delays, and structural failure events. The observational method promoted as a tool achieve cost-effective designs in cases large but its practical still limited. One reason may be lack guidelines experiences from previous projects where has been used. In this paper, we therefore present case study design under Hvalfjörður fjord Iceland, played key role that was performed deal challenging geological conditions at site. project success completed four months earlier than originally planned. light study, discuss definition Eurocode 7 related contractual aspects consider such projects.

In the context of the scope, time, cost, and quality constraints, failure is not uncommon in project management. While small projects have 70% chances of success, large projects virtually have no chance of meeting the quadruple constraints. While there is no dearth of research on project risk management, the manifestation of barriers to project risk management is a less dwelt topic. The success...

Risk management is one of the most important phases of project management and isthe most recently used by many researchers. In this paper, a fuzzy based method wasproposed which identifies different kinds of risks through the project life cycle. Then, the project risk magnitude can be obtained in regards to five factors, namely“severity”, “occurrence”, and “not detection” which form fuzzy FMEA a...
